(LOS ANGELES) -- A Chinese international student who was attending the University of Southern California was killed in a car collision on Sunday during the early morning.
Xinhai Huang, 22, was in the passenger seat of his friend Justin Wayne Rawls' car, driving on West Boulevard shortly before 3 a.m. A Ford Explorer traveling west on Hyde Park Boulevard blew a red light and collided with Huang and Rawls’ vehicle.
Rawls’ injuries were non-life threatening, but Huang suffered severe injuries, and died after being transported to a local hospital.
The driver of the Ford Explorer who caused the crash, Keysi Idania Cifuentes Lopez, 23, is in the hospital recovering from non-life threatening injuries, and faces criminal charges for vehicular manslaughter.
