Strawberry Festival

For the “berry best” weekend celebration, head to the 25th Anniversary CALIFORNIA STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL at Strawberry Meadows of College Park (3250 S. Rose Avenue) in Oxnard, California's Strawberry Coast. Serving up an array of scrumptious strawberry foods, headline entertainment with Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and The E Family with Sheila E, “Strawberryland For Kids,” the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales, gooey contests, the Strawberry Promenade with cooking demonstrations, 300 Fine Arts & Crafts booths, and more, it’s one of the nation's premier outdoor weekend celebrations that has something for all ages to enjoy. Boys & Girls Club of Ventura's 15th Annual Garden Party presented by The Flue Doctor Professional Chimney Sweep will be held at the Historic Pierpont Inn from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Casa Pacifica Angels Wine & Food Festival will be held on the campus of California State University Channel Islands from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Enjoy a great afternoon of sampling excellent wines and delicious fare from 150 renowned wineries, 75 remarkable restaurants, and 25 marvelous microbreweries. Entertainment this year includes special guest, flamenco Spanish guitarist Benise, a “Tribute to the 80’s” rock band the Spazmatics, Disco Inferno-providing a hot mix of the 70s, the smooth jazz sounds of Jeanne Tatum & Company, and the magic and mayhem of Shawn McMaster. Bruce Barrios, Ventura County’s favorite D.J., will also be on-hand to emcee the day’s festivities. A large silent auction will feature wonderful baskets stuffed full of must-have items and a Live Auction will offer the opportunity to bid on more unusual items.

The Ventura Area Squad Club
announces its third annual charity golf tournament happening on Monday, August 4, 2008, at the Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo. Proceeds from our tournament will benefit the CAHP Widow's and Orphan's Fund and Anacapa Middle School in Ventura.

The cost of playing in the tournament is $150 dollars and will include a round of golf with cart and range facilities, a tri-tip/chicken buffet awards luncheon, and entrance into the Jet Blue Challenge for a chance to win $50,000 in cash. Also included is a chance to win a hole-in-one prize of a two year lease on a new 2008 BMW, donated by Steve Thomas BMW.

We will also be holding a raffle, emceed by 95.1's own Bo Jackson, with a chance to win a five day cruise to either the Bahamas or the Mexican Riviera.
